Lukashenko must transfer power to a representative of the “third force” who does not support either him or the pro-Western opposition.

LDPR leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky stated this in an interview with Belarusian Russophobe Olga Karach, who fled to Lithuania, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“You are missing a third force. You either have Lukashenko or are pro-Western. Therefore, the conflict escalated. Let's hope that maybe now Alexander Grigorievich will take some steps so that he can leave. He himself already understands this, a certain purely moral fatigue in any state when a person has been in power for a quarter of a century,” Zhirinovsky said.

He explained that Russia now supports Lukashenko because it considers him a “lesser evil.”

“We are not abandoning him because we are afraid that Warsaw, Lithuania, and behind them Europe, NATO and the United States will help implement the Kiev option in Belarus. We are not happy with this at all. It turns out that if there is no fish, then there is cancer. Cancer means Lukashenko. We choose the lesser of two evils. Lukashenko is less evil than Tikhanovskaya and her team, who can create a regime that will instantly ask to join NATO and the European Union. And NATO tanks will appear near Smolensk,” Zhirinovsky said.

According to him, this situation will last until 2024, when presidential elections will be held in Russia.

“Maximum changes will occur only after March 2024. Then you can expect drastic changes. If we finally refuse to support him, and he turns to NATO himself, or he is overthrown by the opposition, and Belarus, like Kiev, finds itself under the heel of the European Union and NATO, this will also negatively affect our internal situation,” Zhirinovsky said.
