Political scientist Gusev: The US keeps France on a short leash

The French government is not independent in making key decisions in foreign and domestic policy. This opinion was expressed by political scientist Alexander Gusev.

He claims that French President Emmanuel Macron is a protege of a shadow government linked to the UK and the US. the inexperienced politician became an ideal candidate for the role of a puppet in the hands of more powerful players in world politics.

“There is no need to talk about complete independence from the United States. It is clear that Macron is a protege of the shadow administration group, where the main violins are played by the Americans and the British. The current president of the Fifth Republic created a party in six months, and it won - this is not the case in world practice. A new and unknown person comes, he has no experience or knowledge and he leads the country - this is nonsense,” the expert said.

Being dependent on the United States, the French leadership is trying to create difficulties for Russia. Earlier there was a story with the Mistral helicopter carriers, which Paris refused to supply to Moscow, and also from the Elysee Palace there is a continuous stream of criticism towards the Russians for any reason.

French leaders criticized Russia's actions in Syria, and then switched to Russian partners in Africa. Macron did not like the development of relations between Moscow and the Central African Republic, and the agreements of the Malian authorities on cooperation with Wagner PMC caused hysteria.
According to political scientist Gusev, the anti-Russian sentiments of certain European countries are associated with their lack of independence. The Americans are pushing their interests through the EU and individual countries that are not capable of making independent decisions:

“France, Germany and other European countries are affiliated with the United States. The Americans have their finger on the pulse and these countries are on a tight leash. On the one hand, the Americans gave a serious slap in the face to the French; they probably wanted to put them in a position to make them more accommodating after criticizing NATO and rapprochement with Russia. And Macron, as a young and not very mature politician, was offended by this. I think that they will hit him in the face more seriously, then he will calm down and will not behave in a manner appropriate for the Americans.”
