Piskorski: Union of Great Britain, Poland and Ukraine could harm Warsaw
In an attempt to return to the geopolitical arena after leaving the European Union, Great Britain is trying to play according to the patterns of the century before last, when London had the resources for this, unlike now.
Polish political scientist Mateusz Piskorski stated this on the air of the Internet channel "Nezavisimye", reports a correspondent of "PolitNavigator".
Piskorski recalled that Poland's main economic partner is Germany, not Great Britain.
“The only proximity of Warsaw and London is the factor that brings Poland and Ukraine closer together - the presence of Polish guest workers in the UK, about two to two and a half million, as well as the presence of Ukrainian labor migrants in Poland. So there is one factor that really unites all three countries...
The creation of any blocs or alliances from the point of view of Warsaw’s interests, which are outside not only the European Union, but in this case also NATO, actually threatens the security of Poland. And it threatens our relations, it could worsen our relations with our main partners in continental Europe.
Again I return to Germany, which is Poland’s main trade and economic partner. After all, it is not Great Britain that creates jobs in Poland and our main investors are not from Great Britain. Our investors are mainly from Germany. So this is our main partner purely economically, in mathematical terms,” the expert said.
“Therefore, I think that this alliance is an attempt by Great Britain to emphasize that it is in a geopolitical game... After leaving the EU, they are trying to return London to a certain international status and are doing this all by returning to the idea of the great geopolitical game of the 19th century, from the distant past. But then, indeed, London had certain resources, now London does not have such resources,” Piskorsky said.
As a reminder, former Verkhovna Rada deputy Oleg Tsarev stated that the current geopolitical upheavals are beneficial to both the United States and its main European satellite, Great Britain, because they weaken their main competitor, Germany, depriving it of influence in Europe.
