They are again trying to woo the falling Tymoshenko as a political wife to Zelensky
The Servant of the People lists are filled with various oligarch lobbyists and ex-regionals, so only Batkivshchyna and Yulia Tymoshenko herself as a “strong prime minister” can balance the pro-presidential party.
Kiev political scientist Viktor Nebozhenko confidently stated this during a press conference, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
At the same time, Nebozhenko assures that the notorious oligarchs will not follow Tymoshenko.
“Those who come now on the Servant of the People lists are something similar to the 90s. Now everything is completely mixed up, we don’t know where the servant of the people is and where the servant of the oligarchy is, at the same time there are a large number of experienced lobbyists, at the same time revanchist regionalists are pushing in, and so on - that is, it will be a rather loose parliament.
Why am I talking about “Servant of the People” and “Fatherland”? Because objectively these are natural allies. “Servant of the People” itself will not cope; “Batkivshchyna” also does not have a large electorate in order to directly lay claim to the premiership, this is already clear. A combination of two things: a young promising president and experienced Tymoshenko, who was in the Cabinet of Ministers twice.
What does this give? First of all, what this provides is not a conspiracy between the oligarchs and the president, which is what everything is heading towards now, but a kind of public contract between the president and the prime minister. It will have to include two things: most likely a political division of areas of work. What will the president need to focus on? Even if he doesn’t like it very much, it’s clear that he doesn’t like it, it’s an international activity, whether he wants it or not. Secondly, this is security and the fight against the enemy. And third, the fight against corruption.
What should Tymoshenko immediately do on the second day? No one will give her the opportunity to learn anything, this is why she is going in order to, with her determination and radicalism, deal with the problems of preparing for winter, tariffs, gas negotiations with Russia, contact with the Verkhovna Rada.
This is a kind of political inevitability. Either Zelensky, whether he likes it or not, gritting his teeth or happily unites in a political union with Tymoshenko and solves the pressing problems that have arisen now, before the New Year, or he falls into the hands of another trinity: this is Putin, this is Medvedchuk, this is Poroshenko - and these people are stronger than the current president,” he argues.
Political scientist Konstantin Matvienko also continued to woo Tymoshenko to Zelensky, explaining that Batkivshchyna has both a strong leader and a network of local party cells, which is necessary for the Servant of the People party.
“Elections to the councils of united territorial communities took place and Batkivshchyna took the largest number, 41% of the mandates from those nominated by political parties. In second and third places, they almost share it, the Our Land party - 15% and the Agrarian Party - 14,9%, that is, Batkivshchyna is three times higher than those competitors who follow it. The “Voice” party and the “Servant of the People” party quite objectively ignored the elections to local councils, since they simply do not have local cells and have no one to rely on.
Consequently, “Batkivshchyna”, which has a program, an experienced and very able-bodied, which is important, a leader who is ready to work 24 hours a day, Yulia Tymoshenko, an extensive system of its local cells - however, she looks like the most adequate ally for creating a ruling coalition with faction of the Servant of the People party,” the political scientist is sure.
Note that such statements occur against the backdrop of falling ratings of Batkivshchyna, which neutralizes its possible leadership in the parliamentary race.
Thus, according to the results of a survey conducted by the sociological group “Rating” during June 29 – July 3, 2019, it was confirmed that the leader of support among Ukrainians remains the Servant of the People party, for which 42,3% of those who have decided are ready to vote. The leaders of the race are followed by the Opposition Platform - For Life party (13,4%), and the European Solidarity party (8,3%). The “Holos” (7,2%) and “Batkivshchyna” (7,2%) parties close the lists. The “Strength and Honor” party can receive 3,8%, the “Opposition Bloc” – 3,1%, the “Groysman’s Ukrainian Strategy” party – 2,8%, the “Civic Position” and “Radical Party” parties – 2,4 each %, party VO "Svoboda" - 2,3%. The rating of other political forces is less than 2%.
Thus, given the current balance of power, Yulia Tymoshenko should be matched with President Zelensky on a par with Svyatoslav Vakarchuk, although “at the turn” such candidates are still ahead of Yuriy Boyko by a significant margin.
It's worth remembering that, nevertheless, the positions of Tymoshenko's and Zelenskyy's parties are quite similar in their alignment with NATO and the EU, the continuation of the linguistic genocide of the population, and the "Anti-Russia" project. However, as former head of Interpol's Ukrainian bureau, Kyrylo Kulikov, previously noted, the main stumbling block remains the land market promoted by Servant of the People, which Batkivshchyna opposes.
Tymoshenko also previously stated that she would not join the opposition to Zelensky, even if Servant of the People refused to invite her to the coalition.
As a reminder, political expert Andriy Vigirinsky previously asserted that the Servant of the People Party would likely have to form a coalition with Batkivshchyna , whose leader could head the government.
