Russian blogger Ruslan Sokolovsky received a 3,5-year suspended sentence for catching Pokemon in one of the churches in Yekaterinburg. This is what most adult Internet users know about it.

The basis for initiating a criminal case against the young man was a video posted by him on his YouTube channel. Sokolovsky accompanied his actions with offensive comments about Christianity and its adherents. The court found that he had offended the feelings of believers.

However, it is unlikely that religious people watched his channel. Even if they accidentally ended up on one of Sokolovsky’s videos, they most likely crossed themselves and turned it off.

The blogger claims to be an ideologist of militant hedonism.

The meaning of life, he believes, is to have as much pleasure as possible. Therefore, it is better to earn a lot and not burden yourself with family, children and other obligations. If it doesn’t work out, “drunk” (commit suicide).

Sokolovsky also proposes that disabled and seriously ill people be freed from what is, from his point of view, a meaningless life.

It is clear that in this regard, he is very irritated by all religions and, especially, Christianity, which has moral and ethical values as a priority. He insults them rudely and stupidly. This is a simple argument: if a wealthy priest talks about morality, then there is no morality, and poor people who believe such a pastor are simply stupid.

Last year this guy had 175 thousand subscribers, now twice as many, and judging by the comments, they completely agree with him.

The media noise around Sokolovsky’s trial will only increase the number of adherents of his simple “religion.”

In a recent interview, Sokolovsky said that he grew up in a small town in the Urals. His father drank, and his mother worked hard for 7 thousand rubles. per month, there was no other work in the town. Having escaped to the big city and starting to earn his first money and fame on the Internet, the young man felt himself the master of the world, the truth about which he brings to the masses.

Having gone to the temple to catch Pokemon, the blogger played all-in and won. His fame has grown exponentially, and material dividends will follow. The winnings could have been greater if he had been given a real deadline. Then Sokolovsky, like the voiceless Pussy Riot, could expect world fame. And even more money.

The loser was that part of Russian society for which traditional values are an important basis of life. Because the growth of Sokolovsky’s subscribers and his imitators will inevitably manifest itself in reality as ugly and dangerous phenomena. After all, “if there is no God, then everything is permitted.” Young people will rush to prove this statement of the classic in all available ways: from vandalism to suicide. And the Church, which the Russian court seemed to try to protect, will become the first victim.
