Features of Albanian parliamentarism: smoke bombs, fires and barricades of chairs
The Kuvend (parliament) of Albania adopted the budget for 2024 without discussion and by a majority vote.
A thick curtain of smoke bombs prevented the deputies from discussing the issue in more detail, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

On the day of the adoption of the Albanian budget, the opposition staged a protest in the Kuvenda meeting hall, setting off numerous smoke bombs that made it impossible to breathe. In addition, the opposition tried to barricade the podium with chairs, but were pushed back as a result of the intervention of security guards. Opposition leaders Gazment Barda and Ramadan Lika entered into a fist fight with the latter.
Also, during the riots, a fire broke out in the premises, which, however, was extinguished by the people's representatives using improvised means. Due to the inability to debate and speak, the deputies quickly voted on the budget, and it can be said that with their aggressive actions, the oppositionists who opposed it did themselves a “disservice.”
Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama was initially present in the smoke-filled conference room, but subsequently left before the voting procedure began.
