Donetsk under siege was decorated for the New Year: the Christmas tree was lit to the roar of guns

On Friday, the New Year tree was lit in the center of Donetsk - despite the siege, the city center is decorated for the holidays. The ceremony coincided with the cannonade of guns on the outskirts of Donetsk. Near the Christmas tree itself, where the children had gathered, the roar could not be heard due to the loud music, but the shots could be heard clearly as soon as you stepped a little to the side.

There are significantly more illuminations in Donetsk than last year. Pervomaisky Square, behind the Lenin monument, was decorated with new illumination - these are 21 LED trees. The lights on them do not go out during the day, which gives the impression that fruit trees are blooming.

There are also fabulous luminous figures installed in the park - you can’t get through to them - everyone wants to take a photo. An ice sculpture also appeared on the square - the coat of arms of the DPR. This is the most popular subject for photography.
