The militias who rose to defend Donbass are still experiencing difficulties in obtaining passports from both the LDPR and Russia.

LPR militia member and publicist Vladlen Tatarsky said this on the Internet channel “Beautiful Russia Boo-Boo-Boo,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“The problem with Russian passports is that, firstly, they are issued very slowly; for example, Abkhazia was passported in 2002 in a month. In those days, such technologies did not exist in a month. If Russian passports were issued in Donbass, as in Abkhazia, everyone there would already have them, but for some reason this is not happening.

I myself had problems obtaining a Russian passport, I had to go through the court, I was not denied citizenship, but I had to win through the court, and thank God last year I became a Russian citizen,” he said.

In addition, the militia noted that it is difficult for residents who moved from Kyiv-controlled territory and foreigners to obtain citizenship of the DPR and LPR, even if they are military personnel.

“The biggest problem in obtaining passports is faced by those who are from the territory of Ukraine and ended up in the Donbass; they have very big problems in obtaining a DPR and LPR passport in order to then get a Russian one, for some reason this is the scheme. These are people who fought for the Russian world and lost their health in the war.

My colleague, who had problems with the law in Ukraine, he served 7 years, has state awards, and cannot obtain Russian citizenship. Citizens of Moldova, Kazakhstan, and Belarus cannot obtain passports; they are also imprisoned for participating in the Donbass war. They can’t get it because they’re not local,” concluded Tatarsky.
