The provocation of Ukrainian Navy boats in the Kerch Strait coincided with the fifth anniversary of the night clash between the Berkut and the inhabitants of a tent city on the Maidan, which the opposition presented as a “beating of students,” which provoked mass demonstrations in Kyiv.
The editor-in-chief of the Ukraina.Ru publication, Iskander Khisamov, drew attention to this fact at a press conference in Moscow during a discussion with Russian General Leonid Ivashov.
"I view what happened ( in the Kerch Strait, - ed. ) as a continuation of that major geopolitical operation launched by the West, backed by Ukrainian nationalists, with the primary goal of creating discord between Ukrainians and Russians within the Russian civilization, leading to armed confrontation, and continuing the theme of dividing our cultural and civilizational space. Such operations are very inexpensive compared to the American budget, including the military one: we're beating each other up, we're accusing and trashing each other, including in the media, and yet completely different forces are exploiting the results of this discord," Ivashov said.
“Who benefits from this? It is clear that neither the Ukrainians nor the Russians need this at all, especially since this martial law gives nothing on a population scale. Will US military bases in Ukraine be deployed for this incident? In my personal opinion, Trump does not want these complications, but we know the mood of Congress and the balance of power in it,” added the Colonel General.
Khisamov drew attention to the similarity of the provocation near the Crimean Bridge and on the Maidan - both of them were committed by the “small forces” that Ivashov mentioned.
“As a result of this, the Maidan protests acquired numbers of hundreds, thousands, and Ukraine began to rear. It would seem that this is also a trifle. You said correctly - “it’s cheap,” you can raise big things with such economical methods,” added Khisamov.
