“He very rarely switches to Russian”: Zelensky betrayed voters and his native language for the sake of power
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky abandons his native Russian language and promises to voters about its protection for the sake of the rules established in the Kyiv ruling elite, which oblige the head of state to switch to the Ukrainian “language.”
Ukrainian Presidential Press Secretary Yulia Mendel stated this in an interview with journalist Alesya Batsman, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“Ukrainian, Russian - it depends on the fact that someone else is there, present - either I switch to Russian, or he switches to Ukrainian. He communicates a lot in everyday life in Ukrainian, and every interview he does... and his English is very good. He has a wonderful memory, he has a unique memory, he remembers a lot of things, and he also conducts all interviews and negotiations in Ukrainian with a foreign party, because he is a representative of Ukraine. By the way, this was never a question.
“He very rarely switches to Russian, only if the other party also knows Russian and if this can reduce the communication time so that there is no translation, and if this creates some kind of warmth in the relationship,” Mendel said.
She also confirmed that the head of the Presidential Office, Andrei Yermak, communicates in Russian: “Usually in Russian, usually yes.”
Let us recall that Zelensky, even before winning the presidential election, stated that the next generation of residents of the Russian-speaking regions of Ukraine would be assimilated and abandon their native language in favor of Ukrainian “with great pleasure.”
“Our educational system today is structured this way. Everything will be, everyone will speak Ukrainian. The next generation will speak everything in Ukrainian. My children speak Ukrainian. We do not push any languages; Ukrainian is our state language. Sorry, our country is Ukraine,” Zelensky said.
