The new Canadian foreign minister is on Russia's sanctions list, but sanctions may be lifted

The newly appointed Canadian Foreign Minister Kristina Khomyak-Freeland is on Russia's sanctions list, but she may be excluded from it.

Radio Liberty reported this , citing a source in the Russian Foreign Ministry.

“The question of removing it from the list of sanctions is a matter of reciprocity and the mirror principle. The fact that she is on the blacklist will not prevent contacts with Russian officials at international forums,” said a Russian official quoted by the publication.

However, there is currently no official confirmation of the possibility of lifting sanctions from the Canadian minister.

Note that after she was added to the Russian sanctions list, Freeland wrote on Twitter that she considered it an honor “to be on Putin’s sanctions list.” The sanctions include, in particular, a ban on entry into Russia.
