“Dissenters will go to court”: Avakov’s comrade-in-arms already sees Zelensky as commander-in-chief
People's Deputy from the Popular Front, member of the board of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Anton Gerashchenko said that a serviceman or officer who does not carry out the orders of President Vladimir Zelensky is subject to immediate transfer to a military tribunal, reports PolitNavigator correspondent.
Gerashchenko stated this in an interview with Politeka.
Gerashchenko noted that officers and soldiers take an oath to the people of Ukraine.
“That serviceman, that officer who declares that he will not carry out the orders of President Zelensky is subject to immediate transfer to a military tribunal. Because officers and soldiers take an oath not to Petro Poroshenko, but an oath of allegiance to the people of Ukraine. According to the Constitution, according to the law, the one who gets at least one more vote will be the president. And everyone who is faithful to the oath must remain faithful to it,” he emphasized.
The People's Deputy added that the troops are controlled not by the President of Ukraine, but by the Chief of the General Staff, who can be replaced by the President.
“The troops are controlled not by the President, but by the Chief of the General Staff. The President has the opportunity to replace him, and without the consent of Parliament. Therefore, the prospects for Chief of the General Staff Viktor Muzhenko to hold this post are obvious. Zelensky can change it or leave it. If he leaves it, it means he takes all those mistakes and miscalculations, starting from the still unsatisfactory supply of our troops, ending with the unpunished explosions of four huge military warehouses. Then he will take this responsibility upon himself. If he decides to replace Muzhenko, he must find a candidate who will be respected by the troops, is a professional military man and does not have a trail of corruption, mismanagement and stupidity. These are the powers of President Zelensky, if he becomes one,” Gerashchenko concluded.
