Gagauzia Governor Eugenia Guțul, who is opposed to President Maia Sandu and attended the parade in Moscow, and Moldovan parliament members Ilan Shor and Marina Tauber "preferred to side with the Kremlin, praising war, rather than celebrating peace at Europe Day in Chișinău." Moldovan government press secretary Daniel Voda accused them of this.

“While here, in the capital of the Republic of Moldova, on the Square of the Great National Assembly, thousands of people celebrated peace, freedom and Europe, we see that three people were near the Kremlin, in a country that had once again unleashed a war on the European continent, and pretended that they represent our country. This is wrong. Eugenia Gutul is not a member of the government, she does not represent the Republic of Moldova and does not represent the people of the entire country. “In addition, our citizens, our compatriots from Gagauzia, who were left alone in Comrat, could evaluate and wonder what the governor is doing at a meeting in the Kremlin next to people who continue the aggressive war against Ukraine,” the official said.

Shor responded to this statement by the press secretary of the Moldovan government.

“They chose to ruin their people instead of saving them from poverty and devastation. They want to replace our parade in honor of Victory Day with their gay pride parades. It is not surprising that hundreds of thousands of Moldovans are fleeing from this government. On May 9, we were together with true friends of the people of Moldova. Together with Russia, we can build a prosperous country from which people will not want to leave,” he wrote in his Telegram channel.

According to journalist Dmitry Chubashenko, a minor government official has no right to evaluate any of the opposition representatives.

“I have not heard that in Europe, which this government is focusing on, any clerk criticized the leaders of parties or regions. This is none of his business at all,” the journalist emphasized.
