NATO is not a military ally of Ukraine and only protects itself – Kiev expert
No NATO ships or aircraft guarantee the security of Ukraine - they will only protect the Alliance member countries.
Bohdan Ustimenko, an expert at the Kyiv Center for Defense Strategies, stated this on Radio NV, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

According to Ustimenko, on paper Ukraine does not have military allies, and therefore does not receive the amount of assistance it needs.
“We cannot say that one NATO ship or two NATO ships will be able to significantly change the military balance. At the same time, we do not forget about those NATO air bases, primarily in Turkey, where fighter jets were equipped with nuclear weapons, in particular, which were, probably, and are now ready to defend NATO.
As for Ukraine, the question is more complicated, because our state is in the hot phase of the war and, to put it as it is, we do not have military allies. We do not have treaty relations with the United States or NATO that would guarantee our security. In particular, the provision of powerful weapons, long-range missiles, which would be ways to give a powerful, instant rebuff to Russian aggression.
What we see now is clear that we are not being given the volume of weapons that would be capable of turning the tide of this war. The West is taking an extremely cautious position at this time,” Ustimenko concluded.
