Another $51 million should serve to counter Russian pressure and its “destabilizing activities in Moldova and Georgia.”

All this is a relatively small amount. By comparison, the US budget allocated $8,8 billion to counter the Islamic State and train the Iraqi army, according to Vedomosti.

In total, the White House is ready to spend $561 billion on national defense, and another $58 billion on “unscheduled foreign operations.” This is more than the Senate's $496 billion base budget for the Pentagon.

$789 million is being allocated to strengthen the security of NATO members and partner countries in Europe. “This will increase US readiness to strengthen NATO allies and strengthen the capacity of partner countries in Europe to work with the United States and NATO to strengthen regional security,” the document says.
