In Ukraine, the number of NATO and EU supporters has decreased significantly
The number of Ukrainian citizens wishing to join NATO and the EU continues to decline.
Ukrainian political scientist Konstantin Bondarenko stated this during the conference, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Last year, at the insistence of Petro Poroshenko, at the end of his presidential term, they even included a clause in the Constitution stating that Ukraine intends to become a member of the EU and NATO, without asking whether the EU and NATO are going to accept Ukraine. Today, European integration is perceived not as a strategic plan for Ukraine, but as a religion.
As for the citizens of Ukraine, the latest sociological data, which were released just a week ago by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology, show that the number of citizens who are ready today to vote for Ukraine’s accession to the EU and NATO has decreased significantly. This is somewhere at the level of 44-46 percent of citizens. Let me remind you that in 2012, 55 percent were ready to vote for the EU and about 47-48 percent for NATO,” Bondarenko said.
