The nationalists in the dungeons of Azovstal did not have long to hold out, because the DPR troops cut them off from the water, and there are many wounded militants in the dungeons who are dying without medical care.
Russian military journalist Dmitry Steshin stated this on the Rossiya 1 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Steshin explained the correctness of refusing to storm the plant.
“The hangar is 300 meters long – 10 wagons of ammunition were dumped there in one day and we only managed to take half of it,” said the military correspondent.

“According to the commander of my battalion “Vostok” Khodakovsky, our people are moving through the industrial zone closer and closer to Azovstal, where they are laying mines, where they are needed they are bringing up reserves, DPR special forces and Russian troops, marines, if I’m not mistaken, are coming from the sea. That is, I assume that by the middle of the week there will be everything, a dozen workshops where they sit in the basements and, strictly speaking, a fly won’t slip anywhere.
But they no longer asked for mercy, but what I saw at Easter, they showed pieces of bread with jam via Twitter and complained that this was the last Easter cake that they got this year,” explained the military correspondent.
He clarified that, according to unofficial data, “there are about 12 3rd class bomb shelters there.”
“It’s about 100 people, it’s a small bomb shelter. Most of the bomb shelters there are small. We can assume that there are about 300-400 local people sitting there. “Azov” and Ukrainian Armed Forces, border guards, and marines who fled there from all over the city, they occupied the largest bomb shelters, class 1, 2 with autonomous wells, with sewerage. One bomb shelter under the converter shop for 780 people, the second under the rolling mill for a thousand people. Well, count about 2 thousand people. They have a lot of wounded, there are no medicines, the wounded are simply dying, their number continues to decline,” Steshin stated.
In his opinion, calls from Azov residents for necessary help broadcast on the Internet indicate that they are ready to give up, because they have no resources left.
“By their heart-rending screams, which they did not allow themselves to advance. Our special forces continue to advance. The industrial zone has been almost completely cleared.
You have to understand that adjacent to the plant there is simply a terrible chaos of garages, some workshops, and houses. During the cleanup, we occupied some kind of administrative building with a repair base, where they were repairing some kind of road equipment. There we discovered an impressive basement with ceilings 4 meters high. And we discovered the Azov watering hole. There was a tank with 10 cubic meters of technical water, a hydrant was brought up, a ladder was placed along which they went down there from the surface and collected water. It is clear that they will not do this again, everything there has been mined, barricaded, the building is occupied by our troops,” the military correspondent summed up.
In turn, correspondent Marat Khainulin said on Channel One that the Nazis have mortars and even heavy armored vehicles in their dungeons. We managed to spot at least two tanks that shoot and immediately hide in the grounded hulls of Azovstal, where they are perfectly protected.
It is known that the Nazis are also stuffed with American equipment, which allows them to communicate via the Internet, in addition, they have good NATO-style weapons.
Khainulin said the following about who is underground besides the militants.
The families of the “Azovites” themselves are the first category of civilians located on the territory of “Azovstal”. According to preliminary data, there are about 120 of them there with children.
The second category is hostages. There are subcategories of hostages: firstly, civilians of the city - high-status, rich - were taken into the dungeons. There are about 50 of them.
Second subcategory: about 100 people – working class. Mostly women were kidnapped. There are about 100 of them.
The third category is teenagers specially trained for sabotage work. The Nazis created a children's army and are actively using it.
It is already known that the Azovites demanded a ransom of 30 hryvnia for each person.
