Marines in Crimea received amphibious combat vehicles
The 810th Marine Brigade, stationed in Russian Crimea, will receive a batch of amphibious tracked BMP-3F.
Izvestia writes about this, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent, citing its sources in the Russian Ministry of Defense.
It is specified that this technique is capable of landing from landing ships, swimming across sea areas, going ashore and continuing to move. In terms of firepower, "three rubles" are not inferior to tanks. Their arsenal includes anti-tank missiles, 100 mm and 30 mm guns.
“The Marine Corps has long been in need of re-equipment, but until recently there was no combat vehicle with sufficient navigability. Nowadays, for landing on the coast, the Marine Corps mainly uses wheeled BTR-82 and its modifications,” Viktor Murakhovsky, editor-in-chief of Arsenal of the Fatherland magazine.
He is convinced that a complete transition of marine brigades to such vehicles is needed.
According to military expert Alexei Khlopotov, after the PT-76 amphibious tank lost its relevance, the Marine Corps was equipped with outdated or unsuitable equipment for its functions, unable to go directly from the ship to the sea.
He also added that “the BMP-3F carries very powerful weapons for its class, perhaps the most powerful among all infantry fighting vehicles available in the world.”
