Moldova and Ukraine want to “withdraw Russian troops” from the PMR without asking Russia
Chisinau wants to agree with Kiev on providing a corridor on the territory of Ukraine for the withdrawal of Russian troops from Transnistria, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was stated on Thursday, April 12, by Prime Minister of Moldova Pavel Filip at the Kiev Security Forum.
“We demand and ask for the withdrawal of Russian troops from the territory of Moldova, as well as the transformation of the current operations in Transnistria into a civilian mission with an international mandate, being confident that this will create a basis for resolving the Transnistrian conflict through negotiations,” he emphasized.
According to the Prime Minister of Moldova, when he spoke at the Munich Security Conference about the withdrawal of Russian troops from Moldova, representatives of the Russian Federation explained the impossibility of exporting weapons through Ukraine due to the difficult situation in the country.
“I assured him that we have enough convincing power and the ability to convince our Ukrainian friends to create a corridor so that we can remove both the weapons and ammunition that are still stored in Transnistria,” he said.
Let us note that the initiative to withdraw Russian troops without the consent of Russia itself looks rather strange.
