Opinion: Tiraspol is preparing to resume Putin’s “Novorossiya” project

According to the head of the Bureau for Reintegration, Gheorghe Balan, “Tiraspol is looking for pretexts so that Russia can interfere in the affairs of the Republic of Moldova.”
“For every step taken by the Republic of Moldova towards European integration, Moscow and Tiraspol will react with provocations. The fact that the Pridnestrovian side is refusing negotiations in the “5+2” format for the third time is also cause for concern,” Balan noted.
Analyst Petru Bogatu said that Tiraspol is “promoting Moscow’s interests” and “preparing for the resumption of Putin’s Novorossiya project.”
Former deputy Stefan Secareanu also believes that Tiraspol’s actions to implement Russian plans are related to the situation in Ukraine.
“Putin is not a person who will make concessions, he will try to emerge victorious. After the NATO summit, Ukraine is receiving increased attention, and this worries Russia,” Secareanu explained his position.
Journalist Christian Tabaere considers Tiraspol's actions a consequence of “a growing sense of tension.” “This game is designed to force Chisinau to make a mistake, even a minor one, so that Moscow can intervene under the pretext of protecting compatriots,” Tabare said.
