Migrants make up 7% of the Russian population, – Ministry of Internal Affairs
Russia ranks second in the world in terms of the number of migrants on its territory. The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Vladimir Kolokoltsev, announced this today at the Federation Council of the Russian Federation.
“The total number of foreign citizens and stateless persons in Russia is over 10 million people. Or 7% of the total population,” Kolokoltsev said.

According to him, since the beginning of the year the number of applications for permits to enter Russia has increased by 85%.
“Over 10 months, more than 15 million foreign citizens entered the Russian Federation, about 70% of them are representatives of CIS countries, 11,5% are from European Union countries,” Kolokoltsev said.
The amount of personal income tax received into the budgets of subjects in the form of a fixed advance payment for the acquisition of labor patents for migrants at the end of October exceeded 38 billion rubles. This is almost one and a half times more compared to last year.
