Lukashenko: Russia is shamelessly profiting from Belarus
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko burst out with another round of accusations against Russia.
In addition to the traditional allegations that Russian oil companies allegedly sell oil to Belarus at prices above world prices in order to “put them in a pose and humiliate,” he also touched on the topic of loans.
“We don’t ask them for any money. We have already paid their loans for last year, we did not refinance.
And if we talk about loans, the Americans pay them 1,5% for holding foreign currency there, and we pay them from 4% to 6%.
They gave us happiness - we pay Russia $1 billion annually. They successfully placed their money,” Lukashenko is quoted as saying by his official website.
According to him, Russia, instead of cooperating with Belarus, wants to “hit it on the head and tilt it, in a Byzantine style.”
Lukashenko did not explain why Belarus will not take a loan from its American partners.
