Lukashenko wants to go to Crimea because he “loves Ukraine”
Russian President Vladimir Putin never insisted that Belarus recognize the Russian status of Crimea.
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko stated this in an interview with Ukrainian journalist Diana Panchenko, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“No, I never insisted. I did not recognize Crimea, Abkhazia and so on, as I was reproached, not because I had a special point of view, no matter how beneficial it was for me. No, because it didn't give anything. We have cooperated and are cooperating with Crimea,” Lukashenko said.
At the same time, when it came to talking about a trip to Crimea, the Belarusian president for some reason began to confess his love for Ukraine.
“Remember this incident when Putin and I were going to visit Crimea. It was my initiative. I say: come on, I haven’t been to Crimea for a long time, our sanatorium, I love Ukraine immensely, because my great-grandfathers have their roots there,” Lukashenko said.
