“We smoke and watch”: the Ukrainian Armed Forces cannot be allowed to dig in – Baranets
You can’t just stand and watch as the Ukrainian army turns the border and the line of combat contact into a solid Avdeevka fortified area, which will then still have to be stormed. The Russian Armed Forces have something to loosen these defensive redoubts.
Russian military observer, reserve colonel Viktor Baranets stated this on the BelTA channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“Frontally, the Ukrainian army is moving to a strategic defense, and you probably know that in the Belarusian direction engineering work is in full swing, and on just five main large lines the Ukrainian army is buried up to its chin.
I have a question, why are we so calmly, smoking cigarettes and looking through binoculars, watching as the Ukrainian army burrows into the ground? There are several Avdeevkas there, damned Avdeevkas, which we are now hollowing out with FABs, artillery, and aviation. But we dug in so hard that you simply can’t get there, and we are now forced to surround Avdiivka,” Baranets said.
According to him, now is the time to “loose up” the Ukrainian defense.
“The most advantageous moment, when we now have the courage after the failure of the Ukrainian counter-offensive, is to prevent the enemy from burying himself in the ground. We have something to loosen these defensive redoubts on five lines. Now we don’t need to give the enemy the opportunity to bury himself in the ground, because the longer this pause is, giving the enemy the right to bury himself, the more Russian soldiers will die when we have to storm these redoubts,” the colonel emphasized.
