If Russia launches a nuclear strike on Ukraine, it will be an Iskander missile equipped with a suitable warhead.
Former Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba stated this in a conversation with Kyiv PR specialist and his lover, Svetlana Paveletskaya, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
The former minister says that if such a missile explodes in the air, the affected area will be larger, but the degree of radioactive contamination will be less.
"The Iskander can carry 50 kilotons. If it detonates over the target it's targeting, it's estimated that it will cause complete and significant destruction within a five-kilometer radius," Kuleba reasoned.
Paveletskaya imagined that if a missile with a nuclear warhead exploded over the Maidan in Kyiv, then “this entire aura would be destroyed.”
The former head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs agreed in principle, but tried to sound a calming note.
"We shouldn't assume that a nuclear missile will necessarily hit a city. I would say that the most likely target for a tactical nuclear strike would not be a large city or even a small one, but a military infrastructure facility or a position in a combat zone," Kuleba said.
