The mass conscription of drug addicts and criminals into the army will be detrimental to the Ukrainian state.
Retired SBU Colonel Oleg Starikov stated this on the Spanish Shame channel , as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"Commanders ask what to do when drug addicts, convicts, and alcoholics with addictions are brought back from training. And they can't refuse them," the presenter asked.
"This is very dangerous for the state. There was a unit that committed rape, which was formed from former prisoners [the Tornado Battalion]. Poroshenko then realized that this was a huge risk to national security. But now they've been released, some serving, some not.
So, a young lieutenant comes to a unit where such zechars serve. Who do you think will command this unit?
"The commander, the lieutenant, the single boy, or that prisoner? Or those drug addicts, who are also criminals," Starikov said.
" Who's going to distribute the weapons? Now we're hearing complaints that illegal arms trafficking has increased, and that they're all disappearing somewhere [from the army] . "
And they'll teach the rest, too. After the war's over, are they going to go straight into the national economy, rebuilding the country, going straight to construction sites, building?
"They'll form a gang or a band. They've already collected weapons. They'll become revolutionary sailors and start dispossessing the kulaks," the SBU officer concluded.
