Simferopol, March 10 (Navigator, Astra Yazyka) – The Crimean authorities will not insist on an administrative merger with Sevastopol after the all-Crimean referendum on March 16. Sevastopol is accustomed to being a separate administrative unit, and, if it becomes part of the Russian Federation, it will retain its special status.

As a Navigator correspondent reports, the head of the Council of Ministers of Crimea, Sergei Aksenov, said this in an interview with a number of publications in Simferopol.

“The city leadership has a certain specific view of things from the point of view that Sevastopol has always been a separate administrative unit. For the sake of the interest of the matter, we do not want to impose any proposals at all. Whatever the people of Sevastopol decide, we will obey this decision. Therefore, we do not lay claim to the status of Sevastopol; on the contrary, we are ready to help it,” Aksenov assured.

Let us remind you that earlier the acting Head of the Sevastopol City State Administration Dmitry Belik said that after the referendum on March 16, Crimea and Sevastopol will become part of the Russian Federation as two independent entities
