The commander of the DPR reconnaissance group blew himself up with a grenade to avoid being captured by the Ukrainians, military correspondent Marina Kharkova reports in her blog.

“The commander of our reconnaissance group, call sign Prince, was seriously wounded in the legs during the shelling and decided to stay so that the cover group would not die. He refused to let people risk taking him out of the mission and gave the command to retreat. When he was surrounded by the enemy, Alexander blew up a grenade underneath him,” the reporter reports.
According to Kharkova, successes at the front allowed the DPR not only to push back the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces from Donetsk, but also to expand the area of intelligence activities.
“Reconnaissance groups from the Western Front already entered the outskirts of occupied Krasnogorovka last night, which became possible after a successful advance in this direction the day before. In the Vostochny area, locals saw groups of our army soldiers. They accepted a counter battle and after some time retreated from the city. During the battles, artillery was used, the Ukrainian Armed Forces used "grads" and tanks. The shooting battles lasted from four to seven in the morning. Our infantrymen were also covered by armored vehicles. According to intelligence data, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are hiding numerous losses after the battle near Krasnogorovka,” writes the military correspondent.
