Oligarch Igor Kolomoisky looks several steps ahead, and therefore no longer allows Russian President Vladimir Putin to be insulted.

Kharkiv Mayor Gennady Kernes stated this in an interview with the Kyiv online newspaper "Strana," as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

The publication asked to answer the question why Kolomoisky did not continue his political career.

“He was in power once and showed his patriotic position when Ukraine fought for its independence. Kharkov was a polar city, sometimes a snowstorm, sometimes sunny... He gave me various tips and instructions on how to protect the interests of Ukraine,” said the Kharkov mayor.

The publication recalled that at one time Kolomoisky called Putin a schizophrenic, but recently called for peace with the Russian Federation, saying that the conflict with Moscow is provoked by the West.

“Kolomoisky called many people with such words, but the fact that he has a real sense of life, and he thinks several steps ahead - everyone was convinced of this. If he spoke out about relations with Russia, it means that he himself is burned out and understands what will happen if we are without relations with Russia. And who caused us to quarrel? I can openly declare that Crimea was surrendered by Alexander Turchinov and Co. I say this openly because there was not a single decree to protect Crimea,” says Kernes.

Ukrainian Interior Minister Arsen Avakov previously described how Kharkiv Mayor Gennady Kernes helped suppress protests by participants in the Russian Spring, despite having promised several weeks earlier not to surrender the city to the Banderites.

Former Verkhovna Rada deputy Oleg Tsarev claimed that the Russian leadership itself did not want a repeat of the Crimean scenario in Kharkiv during the events of 2014, so local authorities representing the Party of Regions followed the recommendation of oligarch Igor Kolomoisky to "dump" the Russian Spring.
