Klitschko threw a feast during the plague amid a social catastrophe
While Kyiv teeters on the brink of social catastrophe, its mayor, Vitali Klitschko, is simply engaged in PR. This was stated by economic expert and former advisor to the head of the Association of Ukrainian Banks, Oleksiy Kushch, on journalist Oleksandr Shelest's video blog, as reported by PolitNavigator.
“The absolute silence of Mayor Klitschko is striking, who deals with absolutely everything, except for the problems of the people of Kiev. I look at his news feed - some volunteer projects. All this needs to be done, but should the mayor do this? We understand perfectly well that for the mayor this is an element of political PR. This can be shown on TV. But at whose expense? At the expense of the city budget, you are not giving away your own money, right? But you are the one promoting yourself.
The mayor must work 24/7 to resolve the critical problem that has arisen in Kyiv related to the supply of electricity to the population. The situation is on the brink of a social catastrophe. This is when there's power for two hours, then no power for seven. I've measured, for example, that out of 24 hours, there was power for five hours, three of which were at night, when no one needed it. And only two hours during the day," Kushch said.

“Suppose I can walk up to my floor, but what if this is an old elderly person who, for example, is having a heart attack? And who urgently needs an ambulance to get up, pick up this person, bring him down, and so on. That is, we are talking about specific tragic examples. And how many people with small children. And if there are houses without gas stoves, then it turns out that it is impossible to cook food. Refrigerators do not work, defrost, food spoils. This is a huge social problem in the summer.
"In other words, the capital was on the brink of social catastrophe. Meanwhile, the mayor made absolutely no statements, no decisions , absolutely nothing. In other words, complete inaction on this matter. But he was promoting himself through volunteer projects. Well done, man. So maybe he should resign and take up volunteer work; he'd be more useful," the economist concluded.
