“A boycott is the last thing you need to do,” Skripnik said in an interview with Sport Bild on Wednesday evening. He does not support his compatriot Vitali Klitschko, who called on the Germans to boycott the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. Former professional boxer and current mayor of Kyiv Vitali Klitschko proposed boycotting the World Cup due to the civil war in Ukraine and the conflict with Russia.

Former professional footballer Skripnik, who was recently appointed head coach of Werder Bremen, wants sports and politics not to be mixed: “I am convinced that athletes from Russia have nothing to do with political decisions,” he said in an interview with Die Welt.

It is worth noting that hundreds of thousands of glances are focused on the personality of Viktor Skripnik in Germany. He is now one of the most quoted athletes in the German press.
