“China took the side of Russia, but hides it” - former head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry
By publishing its peace plan for Ukraine, China effectively sided with Russia, and also sent a clear leadership signal to countries in Asia and Africa, where Beijing has particular influence.
Former Ukrainian Foreign Minister Vladimir Ohryzko stated this on the NTA TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“What he wrote fits entirely into Russian theses - that a ceasefire is needed, this is the key topic that is being promoted by Russia. And, no less important, this truce should record new historical realities, as they say in Russia. China, in fact, supports this with a conditional plan.
Secondly, China may want to give a signal to those countries that are oriented toward it, and these are many countries in both Asia and Africa that China already holds on the financial chain, and which wants to tell them: “Look, I am great China, I am for peace” (without really explaining what kind of peace it is, and that this is actually support for the aggressor), but in propaganda and political terms it is very beneficial, that is, “we are peace-loving, we are for there to be no war.” Who will oppose this?” – said the ex-minister.
At the same time, he explained why China took a pause after the publication of its plan.
“China will not rush, it will not decipher these theses of its own, because as soon as it starts doing this, it will immediately become clear that it is taking the side of Russia. And so he is supposedly not on the side of Russia, and supposedly for peace. Actually, it’s a very wonderful situation, why not?” Ogryzko added.
