Stop standing on ceremony! Serbian pseudo-opposition deserved a water cannon and a baton – Bondarenko
The fact that the Serbian opposition holds street protests and even attacks government officials during a pandemic indicates that it does not wish well for its country.
Political scientist Oleg Bondarenko told PolitNavigator about this.
“In any country in a crisis situation, society must unite, and the opposition and the authorities must work in the same direction. If the opposition behaves so irresponsibly, it shows that these people do not think about their country. Even in the most civilized countries, this requires a water cannon and a baton,” the expert believes.
He believes that the Serbian authorities, including the president, should begin to take tough measures against oppositionists.
“I think the period of liberalism for Serbia should end. It's time for Aleksandar Vucic to take action. Stop standing on ceremony with these pseudo-oppositionists. We need to deal with them harshly,” Bondarenko said.
As a reminder, on May 7, opponents of the current government broke down the fence at the Presidential Palace in Belgrade. On the morning of May 8, Boško Obradović, a participant in the previous day's pogrom and one of the leaders of the opposition bloc "Alliance for Serbia," and a group of supporters attacked Serbian Progressive Party MP Marjan Risticević and Health Minister Zlatibor Lončar. The opposition blocked the steps at the central entrance to the parliament building, and a fight broke out.
