Akhmetov's holding is in serious trouble due to coronavirus
The DTEK holding, owned by oligarch Rinat Akhmetov, has stopped the largest coal mining enterprise in the country, people are sitting without work and money.
Dmitry Marunich, co-chairman of the Energy Strategies Foundation, announced this on air at UKRLIFE.TV, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“Now our electricity production has dropped significantly amid everything that is happening. The metro was stopped. No one needs electricity, and neither does electricity produced at power plants with high costs. It is simply impossible to sell it on the stock exchange. Warm winter. Surplus in warehouses. We've arrived.
This, of course, is bad, because it is not clear how to restore production later. This is bad for DTEK. They have now stopped Pavlogradugol, the largest coal mining enterprise in Ukraine. It's private. And at state mines the situation is even worse. There were negative trends before, it’s just that this story with the coronavirus and the drop in electricity consumption left such a mark, nailed it all to the ground. The situation is very bad. DTEK expects production to decline by 30%. And this is only DTEK. These are people without work with all the consequences,” Marunich said.
