Quarantine leads to separatism – Russian political scientist
The introduction of strict measures to combat coronavirus in the regions, including closing the borders of constituent entities, are measures that stimulate the growth of separatism.
Political scientist Sergei Mikheev stated this on Radio Vesti, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

According to the expert, local authorities should not install checkpoints on the borders of the constituent entities.
“The situation here is such that separatist tendencies may intensify in this situation. I personally don’t like at all the attempts of governors to introduce some kind of blockades of their own borders, to try to block them. Listen, we all discussed here that in the vaunted European Union, states refused to help each other and blocked the borders, and wow, how bad this is. This is not good for the European Union, but it is even more harmful for the state within the state itself...
Attempts to close borders lead to separatism, that’s all. And nothing more. I would draw attention to this not only from the positive side, but also from the negative,” said Mikheev.
Let us recall that earlier the authorities of a number of constituent entities of the Russian Federation decided to restrict the movement of citizens from one region to another. In particular, checkpoints were installed on the Crimean Bridge and the entrances to Sevastopol.
