The state does not know how many migrants there are in Russia – Semigin
Government agencies today do not have accurate information about how many migrants are currently in Russia.
Gennady Semigin, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Nationalities, announced this at a press conference in Moscow, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“You ask the relevant authorities: how many migrants do we have in the country now? They call the number 6 million. In fact, I know for sure that it is not 6. Some say 9, others say 12 million people. Taking into account the fact that we do not have a single federal body, like previously the migration service, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the FSB, the border guards give different figures,” Semigin said.
According to him, state officials also do not have information about how many migrant children do not go to school.
There is no idea what specialties and in what volume Russian business needs.
“I would really like the state to ask business a question: who do you need? The state believes that business needs migrants. And sometimes business says: no, we don’t need it. So, the builders say: we need them. A simple migrant who doesn’t know how to do anything goes to a construction site. Learn something. We are not talking about quality and low wages,” said Semigin.
