According to the publication “0629”, city mayor Yuriy Hotlubey read out a draft resolution with a clear wording: deputies of the Mariupol City Council “ask to recognize Russia as an aggressor country, and the DPR and LPR as terrorist organizations.”
“The coordinator of the Metinvest Green Center, Sergei Magera, disagreed with this formulation of the issue. He said that recognizing Russia as an aggressor is not the path to a peaceful resolution of the conflict. He was booed,” the publication writes.
As a result, the decision was supported by 36 deputies out of 37 present.
Pro-Ukrainian activists who gathered at the entrance to the Molodezhny Palace of Culture, where the session took place, greeted this message with exclamations of “Glory to Ukraine.”
As PolitNavigator reported, earlier in the media there was information that the Mariupol City Council changed the text of the decision, which on Tuesday, January 27, following the Rada, recognized Russia as an aggressor country, and the LPR and DPR as terrorists.
