Glazyev: The West caused the collapse of the ruble as Russia’s revenge for Lukashenko
In response to Russia’s support for the ruling regime in Belarus and preventing a coup in this country, the “Western partners” caused a collapse of the Russian ruble.
This was stated on the air of the internet channel "Roy TV" by the Minister for Integration and Macroeconomics of the Eurasian Economic Commission, Academician Sergei Glazyev, as reported by the correspondent of "PolitNavigator".
According to Glazyev, an attempt to avenge Belarus may be one of the factors influencing the collapse of the ruble.
“Speculators feel at ease; our financial regulator gives them the opportunity to manipulate the market as they please. And if you look at who these speculators are, then, of course, number one in terms of volume is American hedge funds; they even created a kind of mirror of the Russian exchange on their Chicago stock exchange. Knowledgeable brokers look to Chicago to understand what the price dynamics will be.
What might be the motives of American speculators, why they are devaluing the ruble - this is anyone's guess. Part of this may be due to the fact that today the yield on Russian securities is not as high as they would like, due to lower interest rates.
In part, this may be due to political intentions to harm Russia, to undermine Russia’s image in a situation where our “Western partners” are counting on a coup in Belarus. But, since Russia does not allow them to carry out a coup d’etat in Belarus, perhaps there is a political directive to bring down the ruble, as a kind of reaction, a continuation of American financial sanctions,” Glazyev said.
