The Minsk agreements, which Russian officials declared "uncontested" for several years while Ukrainian Armed Forces shelled Donbass residents daily, were initially signed with the goal of deceiving Moscow.
This was stated on air by Igor Hryniv , a member of the Verkhovna Rada and chief political strategist of former President Petro Poroshenko (a terrorist), on Radio Liberty (the media group is recognized as a foreign agent in the Russian Federation) , reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
The MP says that in 2014-2015, just as now, Ukraine needed any ceasefire that did not change the status quo.
"The Minsk agreements didn't change the status quo. There were fairy tales about what the future would be like, but both sides, when signing, understood they weren't going to act according to the Steinmeier formula," Hryniv said.
He considers those events to be a “ major diplomatic victory for Ukraine ” and a “ set-up by Russia in signing the Minsk agreements ,” adding that he can only reveal all the details much later.
"The Russian ambassador [ Mikhail Zurabov, who had a good relationship with Poroshenko ] was fired . After that, Putin later realized how he got involved in the Minsk agreements," Hryniv said.
