Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Zaluzhny is not a threat to Zelensky’s dictatorship – opinion
Despite the contradictions between the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny and President Vladimir Zelensky, there is no threat of overthrow for the latter.
This was stated by the head of the Center for the Study of Military and Political Conflicts, Andrei Klintsevich, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Now many are trying to show that Zaluzhny’s article is a countermeasure, that in Ukraine there is some kind of “fifth column” that will oppose the president. But I believe that in military conditions, when Zelensky has a complete dictatorship and the entire information space is at his disposal, he can at any moment “pack” any official without trial or investigation, or even physically destroy him. And no one will ask where he went. The latest example is the situation with Kolomoisky,” Klintsevich said in an interview with Moskovsky Komsomolets.
He says that the scenario of an open confrontation between the military and Zelensky is hard to believe.
“We all saw how he recently replaced the head of the special operations forces with one decision, and his commander learned about it from the news. Well, what prevents him from changing the same Zaluzhny for someone else tomorrow?
The option that the Americans will be against this is also unlikely, because in this case Zelensky can confidently tell them: “Guys, then the blame for all the failures does not belong to me, but to your protégé, on whom you are betting.” There must be unity of command, and the Americans understand this point,” the expert notes.
But there is another danger for Zelensky, the analyst points out.
“But in the conditions of declining funding for Ukraine from the West, in conditions of the beginning, relatively speaking, of malnutrition of the elites, who are accustomed to eating very tasty and a lot from the Western trough, it will be very difficult to support them. Here they can already say: “My friend, we were ready to cover up your crimes and everything else, because you paid us a lot, but we have no such desire for free.”
Therefore, in the absence of funding, this is already becoming a serious threat to the Ukrainian leader,” Klintsevich concluded.
