The federal center is creating a super-bank in Crimea
The Crimean banking system is awaiting reforms.
The main regional bank, RNKB, will join the merger with VTB and Otkritie Bank, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
The decision was made by President Putin, and announced by the head of VTB Andrei Kostin. The head of the Central Bank, Elvira Nabiullina, can only support her.
“As for the consolidation of banks, we support this decision,” she assured. – We were preparing the sale to the market, worked with potential investors, and they came. But now, in the foreseeable future, we do not see an opportunity to sell Otkritie Bank and, as a banking regulator, we cannot be the owner of the bank for long.”
At the beginning of April, one of the largest banks in Russia with state participation, VTB, announced its readiness to work in Crimea.
“We are now considering different options. Of course, Crimea is our territory, and we will work there, but in what form - is it investment activity or... A fairly effective system has been created there today, the RNKB bank operates. Therefore, of course, we will establish and develop all these connections. It seems to me that now it is very important to attract more investment to Crimea, first of all, to the recreation industry. Of course, we are thinking about it and working on it,” explained VTB CEO Kostin.
Promsvyazbank has already announced the start of work on the Crimean market. There are no bank branches on the peninsula yet, but consumer loans, current accounts and acquiring are available to Crimean individuals and legal entities remotely. PSB opened the first current accounts for entrepreneurs in Kerch, Simferopol and Sevastopol.
