Europe threatens to impose nuclear sanctions against Russia

Yesterday, the European Parliament adopted a resolution on Ukraine, in which a lot of space was devoted to criticism of the foreign policy course of the Russian Federation. The document refers to “numerous human rights violations in occupied Eastern Ukraine and Crimea,” as well as “aggressive policies that threaten the unity and independence of Ukraine, and potentially the European Union itself.”
The deputies called for the development of a “clear set of criteria”, compliance with which would allow Russia “to prevent the introduction of new sanctions and lift existing ones.” Among them are “the unconditional withdrawal of Russian armed forces and Russian-backed armed groups from the territory of Ukraine,” the exchange of prisoners and “the restoration of control of the Ukrainian authorities over the entire territory of the country, including Crimea.” At the same time, members of the European Parliament do not exclude the possibility of expanding sanctions against Moscow - their extension to the nuclear sector and “limiting the ability of Russian organizations to conduct international financial transactions.”
