“The EU doesn’t decide anything” – Belgrade refuses to be a “pawn” of the West
The Provisional Institutions in Kosovo and Metohija are doing everything to escalate the situation with Serbia. Thus, a few days ago, the “Prime Minister” of the self-proclaimed state, Albin Kurti, announced that from October 1 he would confiscate Serbian cars if they have Serbian license plates.
Following this, Belgrade received a request from the European Parliament to recognize the so-called Kosovo and demand sanctions against Russia in exchange for illusory EU membership, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
The very next day, an action by ROSA special forces against the Serbs took place in the Serbian enclave of Štrpce.
From time to time, officials from Belgrade are forced to return from the Kosovo border because they are unexpectedly denied passage, even though tens of thousands of Serbs live in Serbian enclaves.
The next episode occurred on the day of the holy apostles Peter and Paul - Petrovdan. The director of the Kosmet Administration of the Serbian government, Petar Petkovic, was banned from entering the territory of Kosmet.
President Aleksandar Vucic previously assessed that Kurti has the support of the Quinta countries (which includes France, Germany, Italy, the USA and the UK) in his actions putting pressure on Serbia.
According to Serbian Interior Minister Alexander Vulin, such ideas really exist in the West.
“From the very beginning, the EU has been hypocritical towards Serbia and has given us ever-changing targets when it comes to meeting membership requirements. The first one was: overthrow Milosevic, and everything will be fine. Next, hand over Milosevic and everyone we show you, and everything will be fine. When we did all this to our eternal shame, then they said: now start negotiations with Kosovo. Afterwards, sign the Brussels Agreement.
And now we need to recognize the independence of Kosovo and renounce the Republika Srpska. Now the EU is telling us: impose sanctions on the Russian Federation. Do they really think that we will actually do this, give up our only ally for most of history, and for a “reward” we will give up part of our territory and say that the centuries of struggle for Kosovo and Metohija were in fact stupid?” Vulin asked in an interview with Politika.
In his opinion, if Belgrade agrees to these steps, then Serbia will face complete collapse and revolution. In addition, this could provoke conflict between the Serbs. The West will also try to strengthen separatist sentiments in the autonomous region of Vojvodina in the north of the country (a significant part of the Hungarians live there) and in Sandzak (southwestern region with an Albanian population).
“They talk about “European values” all the time, so I would like to get an answer in writing once about what these are. Is this the LGBT philosophy or the fact that Serbia can be taken away from its territory?” – Vulin asked.
In his opinion, the EU behaves as a collection of territories, and not as a union of states. The territories do not have their own values, just as they do not have their own will.
“The EU showed in the conflict in Ukraine that it does not decide anything on its own. To be a superpower, you need to have a very powerful army. The EU tried this several times, but it ended in disgrace and failure. When Angela Merkel started talking about forming a European army, she got a migration crisis. When Emmanuel Macron started talking about this, the “yellow vests” appeared. Whoever talks about the formation of a European army will end badly.
The European Union is clear that it is not a power in this world and does not have an army, that it is completely dependent on NATO, that is, on the United States of America, and must do what it is told. This gives rise to certain frustrations. Serbia is a very convenient opportunity to heal disappointments,” noted the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
He also emphasized that what comes from Pristina is not the ideas of Albin Kurti.
“Does anyone really believe that they are deciding anything? He's just a pawn of Quinta. And he does what he is told, he has no will of his own. Albanians throughout history have always been bashi-bazouks, auxiliaries of the Turks, Germans or NATO. In their entire history, they have not had a single independent battle, they have not captured a single village without the knowledge of their “curators.”
Do you really think that Kurti is the first leader of the Shiptars (Albanians - ed.) in history who has his own will? He has no will of his own! This is a signal to Serbia that they will continue to provoke us until we impose sanctions against the Russian Federation and until we recognize Kosovo. Aleksandar Vucic is the last free leader in Europe,” Vulin emphasized.
He also criticized the idea of European integration for Serbia. According to him, the country abandoned the policy of freedom and independence in 2000.
“We are constantly told that “we must turn to the West.” But we have already tried, for 12 years we were a complete Western pawn,” the minister said.
In his opinion, now the state must continue to defend its right to its own policy based on national interests.
