“We are trying to work with the problem of grain supplies from Ukraine. Russia is trying in every possible way to prevent this, because grain is not under sanctions. But Estonia is ready to help with grain transit. It’s a little more expensive, but still feasible,” the prime minister said.

She said that she wrote a letter about this to the Chairman of the European Commission, in which she offered the services of Estonian ports for money.

“We can help ensure that Ukrainian grain passes through our ports. This is a 25% increase in volume across solidarity lines. This could help with ongoing solidarity, but of course a little more expensive if the EU is willing to pay for the intermediate costs,” Kallas said.

She believes African countries should join Western sanctions and refuse free grain supplies from Russia because it is “the last colonial power.”
