Rada deputies face reprisals from offended NABU
The Ukrainian anti-corruption agencies that have regained power will now begin to take revenge on the Verkhovna Rada deputies who almost took away their main “feeding trough”.
Ukrainian political scientist Konstantin Bondarenko stated this in an interview with foreign agent journalist Alexander Shelest, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"Regarding the deputies, an old Soviet joke comes to mind: Politburo members who voted for Andropov can throw up their hands and walk away from the wall. So, in this situation, something similar is happening within the walls of parliament, especially since the deputies now fear retaliation from the NABU and the SAP.
They found themselves between two fires and, accordingly, in this regard, they understand that after voting to restore the old powers of NABU and SAP , they could face revenge,” Bondarenko said.
He recalled that every Ukrainian deputy is involved in some kind of corruption, which means he is very vulnerable to anti-corruption agencies.
“They may face reprisals from anti-corruption agencies that feel they have impunity.
"Moreover, let's be honest: we all understand perfectly well how parliament functions, and that deputies receive more than just the salary stipulated by law ; they also receive various kinds of cash, lobby on a wide range of issues in violation of the law, and so on. They charge fees for specific lobbying services, and all of this is meticulously documented," the political scientist added.
