Verkhovna Rada deputy Nestor Shufrich announced this on the NewsOne television channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to the politician, it took three to four months to bring peace to Donbass in 2014, but Poroshenko decided to fight.
“The very idea of organizing a meeting in Minsk arose on July 1, 2014 after Petro Poroshenko, under pressure from Heletey and other military men who convinced him, left the truce regime. Then from June 20 to 30 there was a real truce. There were 74 dead at that time, the hryvnia was 9, the economy of Donbass was integrated into the economy of Ukraine, GDP declined by 7%, and now it has fallen by half - from 182 billion to 94 billion at the end of this year. Then the formula for leveling this conflict was practically resolved. It would have taken us three to four months to implement the agreements that were clear to both Kyiv and the so-called DPR/LPR. Unfortunately, we decided to fight,” Shufrich said.
