Refat Chubarov, head of the Mejlis, which is banned in Russia for extremism, announced this on the air of the Pryamoy television channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Russia did not seize Crimea in order to develop resorts there. She had previously invested almost $50 billion in Sochi resorts. It is clear that Crimea is viewed by Russia solely as a military outpost on NATO’s southern flank.
Russia is re-equipping Crimea in terms of weapons. Today there are Russian anti-aircraft missile systems in Crimea, two battalions there already, fully equipped with S-400s, want to equip the third battalion. These missiles, the S-400, are the weapons with which Russia can reach all three NATO members located in the Black Sea basin,” said the chief Mejlis member.
