“We will root for our people” – in the match with the Croats, Odessa residents promise support for the Russians
In Odessa, despite calls from the authorities and threats from nationalists, they continue to watch matches of the World Cup, which is taking place in Russia.

“I won’t tell you for the whole of Odessa, but many local pubs are crowded during the World Cup. And how we had fun when ours, I mean the Russians, won. Odessa rejoiced! I lost my voice and am still hoarse. The feelings were indescribable. Now we are looking forward to the quarterfinals. We hope for our victory again,” Semyon, a resident of Odessa, told the publication.
At the same time, the publication notes, the owners of Odessa restaurants continue to show matches in their establishments.
“It is noteworthy that the so-called “patriots” went so far as to try to “negotiate” with restaurateurs about “insurance”! They offered not to touch the establishment in exchange for money. We are talking about amounts from 500 to a thousand dollars. Then, they say, they will be allowed to show football. It is unknown whether anyone made contact with them,” the publication writes.
In turn, the owner of a popular restaurant in Odessa, Alex Cooper, estimated that in the city, according to preliminary estimates, football is shown in all pubs, as well as 50 - 70 restaurants, that is, almost all well-known ones.
