Boxer Usyk told Ukrainians about patriotism
Olympic champion Ukrainian boxer Alexander Usik, who was defamed by the Kyiv media for refusing to call Crimea Ukraine, spoke on Vesti radio about what he considers patriotism.

“I will say what I have wanted to say for a long time. Homeland is not when you hate everyone around you, but love your country. No. This is when you love your country with all your heart, but also those around you, neighbors and distant ones. You can shout that you are a patriot, wear an embroidered shirt, and then throw an empty cigarette pack out of the car window. Or you can silently raise the bull behind the one who walks ahead of you. You’ll think: “He’ll change,” and you’ll throw this bull in the trash,” Usyk said.
The boxer remembered how he returned to Kyiv after the Olympics.
“When you go abroad, you feel a little uncomfortable, the land on which you were born, on which your mother and father led you, is not under your feet. When I returned from the Olympics, I stepped off the ramp and touched the Ukrainian asphalt with my hands,” Usik said.
According to the athlete, the family will not move to Kyiv for some time.
“The comfort of my children and my wife and my children is important to me. If they come here now, these are three children, a nanny. It will take three months,” Usik said.
