Fugitive Maidan activist: Zelensky lied about the connection between the land law and IMF loans
The IMF did not call the adoption of the law on the sale of Ukrainian land a prerequisite for providing the next tranche to Ukraine.
A Maidan activist who fled from Donbass and now “Ukrainian military expert” Dmitry Snegirev stated this on the air of the Ya-UA TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Let's refute the myth that the IMF imposed on us the provision of the next tranche, tied its provision specifically to the adoption of the law on the sale of land and the “anti-Kolomoisky” law. Let's dwell on the issue of selling land. This is outright nonsense.
The IMF could not initiate such issues without the consent of the Ukrainian side. The IMF doesn’t care how we pay off the debt to their institutions. These could be different options - either through budget revenues in the conditions of a functioning Ukrainian economy, or through attracting additional investments.
Moreover, it was the Ukrainian authorities who proposed, as a single source of repayment of an existing loan against new obligations, the adoption of a land law as an additional loan obligation,” said the Maidan activist.
“Therefore, when we are told that without the adoption of the law on land, and this was supposedly a condition of the IMF, we will not be given the next tranche to pay off previous loans, this is not true.
I will emphasize once again: the initiative to adopt a law on the sale of Ukrainian land belongs exclusively to the Ukrainian authorities. Because, in fact, the sale of land is considered as a single and additional flow of money into the Ukrainian budget,” Snegirev added.
